Important Checklist for Your Baja Adventure Run!
Before Departure (Checklist will be performed stateside, and trucks will be turned away if all items are not met)
Required Items:
• Passport: Ensure all participants (Drivers, Passengers) have a valid passport for entry into Mexico.
• Current Registration and License Plates: Have your Ford Raptor’s registration and license plates up to date.
• Mexico Full-Coverage Insurance: Obtain Ride Baja Mexico Insurance for your Raptor.
• Off-Road-Ready Truck: Ensure your truck is properly prepared, in good working order, and ready for off-road driving. All services should be up-to-date.
• Two Full-Size Spare Tires: Carry two fully functional spare tires for any unexpected situations.
• Race Radio 50-Watt or Greater: Install a race radio with a power of 50 watts or higher, using the weatherman frequency (151.625).
• GPS Chart Plotter: Equip your truck with a GPS chart plotter. Lowrance is recommended, or tablets with apps like Lead Nav can be used as well.
• Case of Bottled Water: Carry a case of bottled water for hydration during the trip.
• Basic Tools and Recovery Gear: Have essential tools like straps, shackles, jack, etc., for any minor repairs or recoveries.
• Layered Clothing: Pack layered clothing to be prepared for a variety of weather conditions.
• $20 in Small US Bills (Singles): Keep small bills in USD for toll roads.
Currency Tips: While USD is widely accepted, consider exchanging pesos at the bank for better rates. Participants typically carry between $1000-$2000 in cash. Most gas stations accept credit cards.
Recommended Items:
• Spare Intake Filter (Dry): Consider carrying a spare intake filter for your Raptor.
• Fire Extinguisher: Have a fire extinguisher on hand for added safety.
• Soft Pack Cooler for Cab: Bring a soft pack cooler to keep beverages and snacks cool during the trip.
• Non-Perishable Food: Pack non-perishable food like jerky, etc., especially for trail lunches.
• Extra Pair of Shoes: It’s always a good idea to have an extra pair of shoes.
• Baby Wipes: Keep baby wipes handy for easy cleaning.
• Plastic Bag for Garbage: Carry a plastic bag to dispose of garbage responsibly.
